The short version
PrismSnips is a desktop app. Your videos are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to us. We do not run analytics on this website and we do not have accounts to log in to. The things that do leave your computer are listed below, and most of them are services you are already paying for with your own key.
This website
- No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising.
- The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
- When the store is open, the Buy button opens a Lemon Squeezy checkout. Everything you type there goes to Lemon Squeezy, not to us.
- The site is hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs.
When you buy
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record. They collect your email address, payment details and the billing information needed for tax, under their own privacy policy. We see your email address and the fact of your order. We never see your card details.
What the app sends, and when
- Licence checks. On first activation and about once a day after, the app sends your licence key and a name for your computer to Lemon Squeezy, so one licence runs on one computer. If it cannot reach them, it keeps working offline for 21 days.
- Choosing clips. The transcript of your video is sent to Anthropic using your API key, so Claude can pick the moments. This is governed by your own agreement with Anthropic. The video itself is never sent.
- The speech model. On first run the app downloads a speech model from Hugging Face, once. Nothing about your video is sent to get it.
- Pasting a link. If you give the app a YouTube, Twitch or Kick link, it contacts that site to fetch the video, as your browser would.
- Cutaway footage. Only if you turn cutaways on, the app sends search words to Pexels to find stock footage. It is off by default.
Transcription happens entirely on your computer. Your video file, your audio and your finished clips never reach us.
What we keep
Your licence key and your Anthropic API key are stored on your own computer — in the Keychain on macOS, in Credential Manager on Windows. We do not have a copy of your API key. If you email us, we keep that email so we can reply.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at the address below.
- Moving your licence off a computer is in the app’s settings menu.
- Uninstalling removes the app; on Windows the uninstaller asks whether to remove your saved keys and settings too.
Children
PrismSnips is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
